Mexican Corn Bread

Mix together-

1 cup cornmeal

3/4 c. milk

1 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 can cream style corn

1/2 tsp soda

1/3 c. shortening (melted)

mix all above together

1 sm can green chili

1 cup shredded cheese

Pour half of batter into baking dish-spread can of chili and cup of cheese over batter.  Spread remaining batter on top.

Bake 30-40 min at 400 degrees

Note on card:  I found it a good idea to use about half the milk-depends on amount of juice in corn.  I am enclosing a can of tacos sauce as we like to put it on as we eat it.

Sadly, the taco sauce was not still with the recipe by the time it got to me.
