6 oz wide noodles

8 hot dogs, sliced crosswise

1 can cream of celery soup

1 1/2 tsp curry powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cook noodles according to package directions.  Add remaining ingredients and mix.  Pour into an ungreased casserole.  Bake 30 minutes.  Serves 4.

In the later years of her life, my Grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.  It was horrifying to watch this all-around delightful person disappear before our eyes.  After both her and my Grandfather passed on, we found many white envelopes tucked into strange places in her house.  They were all filled with recipes, and the envelopes were labeled with what kind of recipes were in them, and what category this envelope contained.  This horrifying recipe came from a white envelope labeled casseroles.  It is not noted on the outside of the envelope, although there are six other recipes written on the front.  I am hoping that, even when suffering from Alzheimer’s, my Grandmother could tell that this was a horrifying recipe that should not be shared with anyone.  Perhaps she was trying to do the world a favor by stuffing it under the couch cushions.
