Clara’s Oatmeal Bread

3/4 cup boiling water

1/2 cup rolled oats uncooked

1/3 cup shortening

1/4 cup molasses

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/4 cup lukewarm water

1 pkg dry yeast

1 egg

2 3/4 cup sifted flour

Place 1/2 cup raw rolled oats in bowl.  Ad1/3 cup shortening. 1/4 cup molasses and 1 1/2 tsp salt.  Pour 3/4 cup boiling water over these ingredients.  Stir well until shortening is melted.  Allow to cool.  Measure 1/4cup lukewarm water.  Shake pkg dry yeast into this. Allow to sit while other mixture is cooling.  Beat egg and add to oatmeal mixture when cooled enough add yeast mixture.  Add flour stir in flour gradually.  Place dough in lightly greased bowl.  You do not knead this.  Cover and place in refrigerator for two hours.  Remove and shape the chilled dough into a loaf.  No kneading.  Place in loaf pan and cover about two hours.  Bake 1 hour at 350
